1. General information
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern the use of the VEDU mobile application and website operated by SIA VEDU (reg. No. 40203679172, address: Lāčplēša 70b-4, Rīga, LV-1011, Latvia). By accessing or using the VEDU app or website, you agree to these Terms.
2. Scope of the service and legal status
VEDU is a digital platform providing intermediation and coordination of private child transportation services.
VEDU is not a taxi company under the Latvian Road Transport Law; it serves as a digital intermediary.
All rides are performed by independent licensed transport providers holding valid “passenger commercial transport by light vehicle” authorization issued by the Road Transport Administration.
3. Users and accounts
Only individuals aged 18 or older may create an account. The user must provide accurate information and is responsible for maintaining account security.
4. Payments and commissions
Payments are processed via Stripe. Parents pay per ride or reservation. The total price includes the carrier’s fee and VEDU’s commission for coordination, safety, and payment handling. This payment represents an organizational service, not a taxi fare.
5. Cancellations and refunds
A ride can be cancelled until it starts. Immediate ride: free while no driver has been assigned; once a driver has been on the way for more than 5 minutes the fee is €5.00; once the driver has arrived, 50% of the calculated fare. Booked ride: free if there are more than 60 minutes to go or no driver has been assigned; after that, 70% of the calculated fare. The current rules are shown in the app and in the FAQ. No refunds for completed rides.
6. Driver requirements
Drivers are verified, trained, and insured. They must hold valid transport authorization and use vehicles equipped with child safety seats.
7. Safety and liability
VEDU provides GPS tracking and parental notifications. The independent carrier is responsible for the transport. VEDU is not liable for indirect or consequential damages.
8. Data protection
Personal data is processed under GDPR and Latvian law. Only necessary data for service, safety, and payments is collected. Data is stored within the EU.
9. Intellectual property
All VEDU software and content are owned by SIA VEDU and may not be copied or used without written consent.
10. Governing law and dispute resolution
These Terms are governed by Latvian law. Disputes are settled in Riga courts. Consumers may turn to the Consumer Rights Protection Centre (PTAC, www.ptac.gov.lv), including for out-of-court dispute resolution.
